2" Daystar™ Comfort Ride Coil Spring Spacer Kit

While few Jeep Commander owners plan to use their rigs for extreme off-roading, many of them want to fit bigger tires and give their Commander a more muscular appearance without spending a lot of money or doing complicated suspension modifications.

The Daystar(TM) 2” Comfort Ride Coil Spring Spacer Kit caters to those needs. The kits include:

  • Four spacers (2/front, 2/back)
  • Two coil spring isolators (front)
  • Two concentric spacers (front)
  • Four stem cushions (2/front, 2/back)
  • Two strut mounts
  • Four washers
They preserve factory ride quality, are made in the U.S., carry a lifetime warranty and take between two and four hours to install, depending on the level of experience.

You can read these detailed installation instructions (PDF) to get a better feel for how this system works. To know more about the company that makes it, visit Daystar's website.

2" Jeep Commander Suspension Lift from Rusty

For those looking for a value-priced, moderate lift to make the Commander look better and fit larger tires there is probably no better alternative than Rusty's Off Road 2" boost kit. Rusty has earned a strong reputation in the off road community and many shops around the country are experienced installing his products. Since this is a moderate lift, installing tires significantly larger than the stock 245/70R17 may present clearance issues when using the stock rims. One option is to get aftermarket rims with different backspacing, and another one is to use the stock rims with spacers. A popular option is 260/70R17 with 1.25" spacers (pictured here):

You can find some good discussions in the Jeep Commander Forum among owners that have installed this kit.

Thanks to Comandoooo for letting us use a picture of his shinny black Commander.

2.5" Rocky Road Jeep Commander Lift

I just found out about this 2.5" lift kit for the Commander. According to the manufacturer, Rocky Road Outfitters, this kit is designed for those who want a moderate lift that makes the truck look better and accomodate larger tires, and who don't want to sacrifice handling and road manners. Personally, I don't know first hand of anybody using the kit yet, but the vendor's ebay feedback page shows some good reviews. Rocky Road also mentions that some Jeep dealers are already offering the lift kit as an optional item straight off the showroom floor with full factory warranty, which clearly speaks well of this product. Read more about this lift kit.

4" Lift Kit for the Jeep Commander

Being a relatively new market entry, the Jeep Commander still doesn't enjoy a wide availability of aftermarket parts and accessories. However, Superlift has recently launched a 4" lift kit for the Jeep Commander. It definetely gives the Commander a more muscular stance. According to Superlift, the lift system incorporates Superlift's Frame Integrated Technology (F.I.T.) design concept and maintains the factory ride quality.
